Transcript
It may also emerge that there are probably some team members who are bothered by the mess. The mess bothers them so much that they need to clean it and it's a low battery-cost to them because it's so distressing that it's that messy.
Other people walk in the room and they can't even see the mess. They're like, "What are you talking about? This looks clean to me".
So, let's free up time for the people who love cleaning the shared space. Take something off their plate so that they have time to clean the space in a way that makes them happy. It may not be a good use of everyone’s battery to get the people who can't even *see* the mess to be in charge of cleaning -- it's too high of a battery cost to them.
But we could take something off the plate of those who want to clean and we can all acknowledge they're doing something for the whole team by cleaning the space to a higher standard.
Sometimes if somebody cleans a space, other team members will take it as a criticism that they're not cleaning the space enough. Instead, we can see this as a team effort where we are using our batteries wisely.
