Finally, the ultimate control over your own behaviour that you have in a workplace as a leader or HR is the potential to fire someone. if you have the authority to fire someone, you still can’t change their behaviour but you can get them out of the workplace. And this sometimes might be necessary if they are creating a difficult environment or an unsafe environment for others.

This doesn’t mean you can control others people’s behaviour. It’s your behaviour you’re controlling by firing someone, but it does mean you might have some very big carrots and sticks you can use to change the ABC’s of behaviour.
