Session 5 - Team Habit Builder - Away Moves

Transcript

Identify behaviours that are away moves. These aren’t necessarily “wrong”, they just may be away moves in this circumstance. It’s very helpful when you identify an away move to then identify a “do-instead” move.

It may sound like this: "So, why don’t we discuss things that move us toward or away from that shared purpose? Lack of communication could be an away move. What would the toward move look like? How should we communicate differently?"

We will all make away moves! But it gives us language to acknowledge our mistakes. It’s a much different experience for a co-worker if I say “Hey, I forgot to tell you about this part of the plan, that’s an away move for me - I’ll try to do better” than if I don’t acknowledge it at all.
